Caught On Camera: Oakland Sideshow Driver Crashes Into Onlookers
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Cell phone video shows a sideshow in Oakland that went terribly wrong after dragging on for hours.
Video shows a Ford pulling donuts under I-880 in Oakland, then veering into a crowd of onlookers before driving off.
Neighbors said the sideshow went on for hours early Sunday morning.
"It's real bad. It's from 1:30 to 3:30 in the morning," one neighbor told KPIX 5.
Highway Patrol says there's been an uptick in sideshows this summer. In a statement, Oakland Police said, "As we grow our department and increase staffing, we will be able to more effectively respond to and detour sideshow activity."
Jorge Paez says three different sideshow drivers took out his fence, coming to rest just feet from his front door. He says he's not sure he can wait for police to increase their staffing.
"Maybe I try to sell the house or something," he said.
