Caught On Camera: Mountain Lion Hangs Out On Top Of Car In San Jose Home's Driveway

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Surveillance footage captured a mountain lion lounging on top of a car in a South Bay home's driveway.

"It was scary.  And I did not expect this area because this is still city of San Jose, even though we are in mountain area," San Jose homeowner David Tang said.

Just before 3 a.m., the cat leapt onto the hood of Tang's Toyota Camry.  He shared the video hoping to alert his Almaden Valley neighbors who live near popular hiking trails.

"The major concern I have is the safety for the kids, and lots of single people doing a morning walk," Tang said.

The mountain lion spent about thirty seconds on top of Tang's car before walking across his front yard and disappearing into a neighbor's yard.

"I'm a little concerned for my dogs actually. I have a little dog that would be like a Scooby snack," neighbor Shawn Stuck said.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife believes the cat weighs about 125-pounds, and is probably two to three years old.  It's unusual for people to run into mountain lions, but it's not hard to find their prey around Echo Ridge Drive.
