12-Year-Old Girl Dies From Injuries In Castro Valley Hit-And-Run; Driver At Large
CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) -- Authorities in Castro Valley on Monday were searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run collision that took the life of a 12-year-old girl.
According to reports, the girl was walking through the crosswalk with another juvenile, later identified as her sister, when she was struck at the intersection of Crow Canyon Road and Manter Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to Children's Hospital in Oakland.

The driver paused for a moment and then fled the scene. He was last seen on Crow Canyon heading towards Interstate 580. Authorities are searching for an adult white or Hispanic male, approximately 25-35 years old and driving a lifted black Ford F-150 pickup truck.
"And then after she fell to the floor or the ground, then the driver stopped looked out, and then took off," said CHP officer Gabe Walters.
CHP Castro Valley later confirmed that the girl had succumbed to her injuries. CHP said the victim and her sister were walking home from Creekside Middle School.
Police are relying on home surveillance video which captured the crime and they plan to release part of it in the near future.
Jeffrey Cho's mother rushed to the girls' aid.
"She went down and gave the older sister some water, not really sure what else happened, but I think my mom was just down there trying to comfort her, take care of her at the moment," said Cho.
CHP says the Crow Canyon Road is heavily traveled.
"During like after school time, there's always a lot of kids, there's an elementary school up the hill," said Cho.
"Our hearts and prayers are with the family as they morn the loss of their daughter," the CHP Facebook post read.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office and Castro Valley CHP are investigating the case.
