Drivers Survive Crash That Killed 4 Horses On A Lake County Highway
LAKE COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Two cars fatally struck four horses in the middle of a dark Lake County highway Thursday evening.
The drivers managed to escape unscathed, but their cars sustained massive damage, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The accident was reported just after 10:30 p.m. on Highway 20 east of Clearlake Oaks. The drivers were coming from opposite directions when both cars crashed into the animals standing in the middle of the highway.
It wasn't clear whether the horses had escaped, or who owned them.
A Cal Trans crew was able to retrieve the animals' bodies.
