Car Crash Knocks Power To Hundreds In San Carlos
SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- A car that crashed into a power pole knocked out power for hundreds of PG&E customers in San Carlos Tuesday morning.
A power outage, initially affecting about 1,225 customers, was reported at about 2:15 a.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.
The outage is affecting areas near Highlands and Heather parks.
As of about 3:30 a.m., roughly 707 customers were affected by the outage, she said.
The outage was caused by a car that ran into a power pole, Morris said.
Power is estimated to be restored to the remaining customers by around 8:15 a.m., according to Morris.
Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the crash in the 2400 block of Melendy Drive around 2:15 a.m., Sgt. Kelly Smith said.
Smith estimated that about a dozen power lines were on the middle of the street.
At about 4 a.m., PG&E crews were at the scene working to repair the lines before deputies can conduct an investigation into the crash, he said.
Melendy Drive is expected to be closed between Heather Drive and Alameda de las Pulgas for several hours, Smith said.
No injuries were reported.
