Update: Caltrain service restored after crews remove fallen tree in Burlingame

BURLINGAME -- Caltrain service was restored Thursday afternoon between Millbrae and Hillsdale stations on the Peninsula, after a large tree fell on overhead wires in Burlingame earlier in the day.

The agency reported at 4:30 a.m. the tree was down at North Lane and was blocking the northbound and southbound Caltrain railroad tracks in the vicinity of Burlingame Avenue station. No train service was available between the Hillsdale and Millbrae stations for much of the day, while crews removed the tree and repaired the wires.

Caltrain said train service would operate every 30 minutes out of San Francisco and from Tamien Station in San Jose, with all trains making local stops

SamTrans provided bus service to passengers between the Hillsdale and Millbrae stations on the ECR Route along El Camino Real.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Caltrain announced that the tree was removed, with service being restored between the stations several minutes later.

Caltrain announced Thursday afternoon that weather-related impacts may continue throughout the day and that delays are to be expected.
