California Supreme Court Won't Hear Bullet Train Appeal Case; Project To Move Forward
SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) _ The California Supreme Court has decided not to consider the appeal of a case brought by opponents of the state's bullet train project, clearing the way for planning to proceed.
The justices decided Wednesday not to consider the appeal of a lower court ruling.
The lower court allowed the $68 billion project to move forward despite questions about whether it complies with promises made to voters when they approved funding for it 2008.
Plaintiffs from the Central Valley argued that the 3rd District Court of Appeal's ruling in July undercut a century of legal precedent that requires the state to strictly comply with voters' intent.
