Gov. Jerry Brown Passes On Ice Bucket Challenge, Dog Stands In
SACRAMENTO (KPIX 5) -- California Gov. Jerry Brown has passed on the Ice Bucket Challenge, instead having his Welsh corgi take part in the benefit supporting the ALS Association.
Athletes, celebrities and politicians have taken part in the challenge, which involves people posting videos dousing buckets of ice water on themselves. Participants urge other people to do the same within 24 hours.
This week, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson doused himself and challenged Brown, former California first lady Maria Shriver, and basketball legend Hakeem Olajuwon.
On Wednesday, a video posted on Facebook showed the governor's dog Sutter being doused with ice water in front of the State Capitol in Sacramento.
According to the ALS Association, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised $31.5 million in donations as of Wednesday.
