Burglars steal eggs, cash from San Leandro restaurant; suspect arrested
When burglars broke into a San Leandro restaurant, money wasn't the only thing on their list: Police said they made off with a "large quantity" of eggs.
Police said the group also targeted a Gamestop, which is where officers first made contact with the suspects.
Around 6 a.m., police were alerted to a burglary at the Fashion Faire shopping center Gamestop. Police said they saw two drivers leaving the scene, prompting a car chase.
One of the drivers crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Hesperian and 150th Avenue and came to a stop. Police said two people got out of the car, and one of them was arrested after a brief chase.
The other occupant escaped, as did the second driver. Police said a third vehicle was found left behind at the Gamestop, and that they learned the same group had burglarized Elios Family Restaurant earlier in the morning.
The restaurant had a "large quantity" of eggs, liquor and money stolen. They also took numerous gaming consoles from the Gamestop.
Police said some of the stolen items were recovered from the crashed vehicle. No one was injured in the crash.
