Building Damaged By Mission District Fire Could Sell For $20 Million

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 108-year-old building in San Francisco's Mission District badly damaged by a fire that took the life of one man could sell for $20 million.

Sources involved in the negotiations told Mission Local that the offers coming in for the building on the corner of 22nd and Mission Streets are based on replacing the badly damaged building with new market rate housing.

An offer to replace the building with all affordable housing is in the works, but would require additional cooperation from the owner, and help from the city financing the deal.

65 residents of the building were displaced by the January 28th fire, and businesses in the first floor commercial spaces were also damaged.
