Bruno Mars Talks Beyoncé, Super Bowl Halftime Performance

By Amanda Wicks

(RADIO.COM) – When Coldplay's Chris Martin personally called Bruno Mars to see if he'd like to perform at the 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show with the band, Mars wasn't entirely sold on the idea. "I told him I don't think so," Mars said in a new interview with Rolling Stone. "I just felt like I'd just done it."

But Martin wouldn't take no for an answer. He asked Mars to visit him at a Malibu studio where the two could talk face-to-face. Martin was hooked on the idea of Mars and Beyoncé collaborating on a live version of "Uptown Funk," so Mars laid it all on the line, What did Beyoncé think about the idea? Martin took a quick video with Mars, texted Beyoncé and got her response: She was in.

"She's not f—ing joking around," Mars said about working with Beyoncé. "She's going to get onstage and show everybody why she's the best every single time. She's got that monster in her."

But just because she's the best every time doesn't mean that she's perfect. He shared a hilarious story about the day before their performance. "Me and Beyoncé were both working on our diets, stressing out," Mars said. "Then the day before, we're watching playback backstage, and she's eating a bag of Cheetos. I'm like, 'That's what you're doing?' She's like, 'There's nothing more we can do these last two days. It's gonna be what it's gonna be. So I'm gonna enjoy this bag of Cheetos.'"

Everybody needs a treat now and then. So now we know Beyoncé's got hot sauce in her bag, and maybe even a few Cheetos.
