Woman Found Dead In Calistoga Bed & Breakfast; Boyfriend Arrested

CALISTOGA (CBS SF) -- The boyfriend of a woman who was found dead Friday in a Calistoga bed and breakfast inn was arrested in Nevada on suspicion of domestic violence, Napa police said.

Gena Penney, 41, of Altadena in Los Angeles County, was found dead in an upstairs room at the inn in the 1400 block of Foothill Boulevard around 11:25 a.m., Napa police Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

Penney and her boyfriend Kevin Jones, 41, of Altadena, were on vacation in the Napa Valley. The death was considered suspicious because powder was found on the floor, Penney had suffered visible injuries and Jones left the area without reporting Penney was having a medical problem or was dead, Peecook said.

Jones was found driving toward Reno, Nevada, with the couple's two dogs in Penney's vehicle and was stopped for questioning by the Nevada Highway Patrol, according to Peecook.

Jones was questioned by Napa police at the Reno Police Department and he allegedly admitted some acts of domestic violence had taken place. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and was booked into Washoe County Jail, Peecook said.

Napa and Calistoga police, the Napa County Sheriff's Office and the Napa County District Attorney's Office are investigating the death.
