Blown San Ramon Power Transformer Causes Blackout
SAN RAMON (CBS SF) -- A blown transformer shut down a major thoroughfare in San Ramon and knocked out power to tens of thousands of people for nearly three hours on Thursday morning, according to police.
Police reported the outage at 7:45 a.m. and said the blown transformer has caused Crow Canyon Road to be closed in both directions at Alcosta Boulevard.
About 26,000 people in the area lost power as a result of the blown transformer.
The power was restored to all but 6,000 of the customers by 10:30 a.m.
