Black Acura Sought In Fatal Antioch Crash On Highway 4
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- California Highway Patrol officers are asking for help finding a black Acura thought to be the vehicle that swerved in front of an SUV before it crashed Friday morning in Antioch killing one person.
CHP officials received the first report of the crash at 10:57 a.m. on eastbound state Highway 4 just east of L Street.
Red trim reportedly surrounds the Acura lettering on the right rear part of the vehicle.
The driver of the Acura was wearing light-colored winter hat.
Antioch resident Derrick Joseph, 37, died at Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch after being ejected from the SUV, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Chevrolet had crashed into a concrete barrier and overturned before righting itself.
The Acura continued east on Highway 4 and the driver may not be aware of his involvement in the crash, CHP officials said.
A 39-year-old woman from Antioch was a passenger in the Chevrolet. She was treated at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for minor injuries.
Neither Joseph nor the woman from Antioch had their seatbelt on, according to CHP officials.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or the events leading up to the crash is being asked to call the CHP at (925) 646-4980.
