Driver Arrested In Berkeley Corvette DUI Crash, Passenger Seriously Injured
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- A driver was arrested after fleeing from an apparent DUI crash on Berkeley's Tunnel Road early Friday morning, according to Berkeley police.
The collision in the area of Tunnel Road between Alvarado Road and The Uplands was reported shortly after 2:20 a.m., police said.
A black Corvette sustained front-end damage in the collision.
The passenger, a man in his 20s, suffered significant injuries and was transported to a hospital, according to police.
The 21-year-old driver fled the scene of the collision and was detained by the Berkeley Police Department away from the collision. From a subsequent investigation, the driver was arrested for a felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence, according to police.
The police department's Fatal Accident Investigation Team was called to investigate the crash.
Tunnel Road is now open in both directions.
