Belmont Sandwich Shop Robbed At Gunpoint

BELMONT (CBS SF) -- A Subway sandwich shop in Belmont was robbed at gunpoint on Monday night, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to a reported robbery at the Subway located at 1602 El Camino Real at about 8:45 p.m., Belmont police Capt. Patrick Halleran said.

A man wearing a black stocking over his face had entered the shop carrying a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money from the cashier, Halleran said.

The employee complied, and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen running south on El Camino Real.

No one was injured, and no other suspects or a suspect vehicle were seen, Halleran said.

The suspect was described as man in his early 20s with a thin build, standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a white Adidas jacket with a black strip, dark blue jeans and black gloves.

Police released images of the suspect taken from video surveillance.
