Behind The Song: Jidenna- "Classic Man"
By Brian Ives
One of the newer names on this year's GRAMMY ballot is R&B singer Jidenna, who is nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Classic Man" (which sees him teaming up with another new name, Roman GianArthur.
In the music video, Jidenna, looking very dapper, shows off his fashion sense. And he's quick to note that he's much more concerned with style than fashion.

"Style is important," he told Radio.com last year. "I really don’t believe it's about fashion. It’s about character. So, no matter how you dress, no matter what you wear, it’s really how you carry yourself in what you wear that matters."
He calls "Classic Man" is "an anthem for manhood in general, and for the gentleman in every man," and was was inspired by people who he saw in his neighborhood growing up.
"I lived in Brooklyn, New York, and my neighbors were men, usually older men, but some were young with old souls. And they carried themselves with a certain amount of dignity and class. They would diffuse the fights in our neighborhood. They knew everybody, and everyone knew them. And there was something about these guys that really influenced me as I was growing up and I wanted to make a song that was an anthem for these men, and so many other men."
