PHOENIX (CBS SF) -- The game between the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday in Phoenix generated plenty of buzz on and off the field after it was briefly delayed over a swarm of bees.
After three pitches into the game to Giants leadoff hitter Angel Pagan, Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson called time to tell the umpires about the bee swarm near a center field sign.
The game was briefly delayed as the bees were given an opportunity to move along.
The game resumed minutes later and Pagan promptly hit a fly ball to center field, forcing Diamondbacks center-fielder to run through the remaining bees to make the catch, swatting them away as he threw the ball back.
