Bear Prompts Lockdown at Tahoe's Incline High School
INCLINE VILLAGE, NV (CBS SF/AP) – A wandering black bear has prompted a precautionary lockdown at a high school on Lake Tahoe's North Shore.
Officials at Incline High School ordered the "Code Yellow" lockdown when the bear was spotted on the school's campus about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Washoe County school district spokeswoman Victoria Campbell says the bear is not threatening anyone and classes are continuing as normal.
Nevada Department of Wildlife officials are monitoring the situation.
NDOW spokesman Chris Healy says the same thing happens every year just about this time as bears seek additional food in preparation for winter hibernation.
