Bay Area Restaurants Feeling Steady Economic Glow

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- The state of our economy is strong one day and questionable the next, but restaurants around the Bay Area are feeling a steady economic glow.

"We still eat out when we want to, we don't feel hampered when we want to," Kathy who was eating at the Left Bank on Santana Row in San Jose said.

Cecilia from San Jose says she won't be cutting back any time soon.  "I know it's really expensive to eat out, but it's kind of my entertainment," she said.

Alexis, who was visiting from Reno said she's noticed the trend as well.  "As a general trend we've been eating out a lot more. There've been a lot more restaurants coming out," she said.

Wallets seem to be opening wide in the South Bay.

"It seems that whether it's red hot, or pink slip, there's still a need for people to eat every day," Carl Guardino of the Silicon Valley Leadership group said.

For others, the convenience of eating out trumps the hassle of cooking meals at home.

"Cause I'm a single guy and I don't have time, I'm busy working. It's easier,"
