Bay Area Heat Advisory Issued For Early Next Week

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Expected hot weather has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for the Bay Area early next week.

Officials said the advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday for the entire San Francisco and Monterey Bay region.

The weather service said a strong ridge of high pressure will build back into the region starting this weekend, leading to possible record-breaking highs and the hottest temperatures this year in some areas.

KPIX 5's Roberta Gonzales said high temperatures throughout the Bay Area are expected to be about 10 degrees warmer on Saturday compared to Friday.

By Sunday, highs are expected to jump another 10 degrees, with highs approaching 80 along the coast and exceeding 100 degrees inland.

Weather officials urge people to stay out of the sun, not to leave children or pets in vehicles, drink plenty of fluids and check up on relatives and neighbors.
