Baby Bear Burned In Washington Wildfire Recovers At Lake Tahoe Wildlife Center
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS SF) -- A bear cub burned in a wildfire in Washington state is now on its way back to full health.
A homeowner found one-year-old "Cinder" struggling after the fire. She has painful burns to her paws, stomach and head.
When Fish and Wildlife officials needed a way to her to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care Center, they called a pilot who often volunteers to help animals.
"Most pilots don't need much of an excuse to fly, but to do something positive is really great," said volunteer pilot Bill Inman.
Caretakers are unsure how long it will take to get Cinder back to 100 percent, but the goal is certain.
"With every single bird and animal that comes into Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care is to get them released back into the wild," said Tom Millham of the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care Center.
The center counts on volunteers and donations.
