Ayesha Curry's Career Heats Up With Cookbook, Cooking Show
OAKLAND (KPIX 5) - Ayesha Curry's cooking career is heating up.
She's a self-taught chef, blogger, entrepreneur, media star, and now... author. The 27-year-old is sharing her passion for food in her first cookbook "The Seasoned Life: Food, Family, Faith and the Joy of Eating Well."
Curry discussed her passion for cooking with KPIX 5.
"Everybody loves food, you gotta eat to survive, so I just love that it's a love language," she said.
Curry said she wants cooking to be more accessible.
"Yes absolutely, I want it to be fun, I want anyone to feel like they can crack open the book and cook something great for whoever they want to cook for."
Her recipes are Steph and Riley approved.
"Oh for sure. I had a slew of tastetesters, whether it was my family, a lot of the stuff in there are things that have been passed down," she said.
Before a sold out crowd in conversation with celebrity chef Michael Mina and hosted by the Commonwealth Club, Curry said her passion for food started as a child. And her husband NBA superstar Stephen Curry was the one who encouraged her to start a food blog.
She says the night before a Warriors game and on game day there's a high carb meal. And her husband also uses recipes from her cookbook.
"He does, and it's so funny because it used to be a big fat no, and now he's cooked three times for me out of the book, and so he does, he's gaining kitchen confidence as well," Curry said.
Ayesha Curry's first Food Network show debuts next month.
She said, "I think what's surprised me the most is that people have showed up. Everytime I walk in there they are, it's just the coolest thing, it's really rewarding with the book in their hand, and to hear or see on social media that they've tried a dish. It's so rewarding and it makes me so happy and I'm just excited that people are excited."
