1 Dead In Castro Valley Shooting; Search For Suspects Puts Oakland Neighborhood On Lockdown
CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) -- The Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland was on lockdown as police searched for suspects in a Castro Valley shooting early Tuesday evening that left one person dead.
The shooting happened on the 198000 block of San Miguel in Castro Valley at about 5:15 p.m., according to a tweet by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office that was posted about an hour later.
Deputies arrived to find a victim inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital who was later pronounced deceased.

In a Tweet, Alameda County Sheriff's deputies said after an attempted vehicle stop,
deputies pursued the suspects on I-580 to the to Rockridge area of Oakland.
Authorities said the suspects ditched their vehicle and were last spotted fleeing on foot. The sheriff's office told CBS SF the search was being focused on the area north of Highway 24 and the Broadway exit.
Several law enforcement agencies joined in the search using helicopters, K-9 units and officers on foot.
People living in the neighborhood were being told to stay inside.
