Authorities Identify Man Found Dead After 2 Days Inside Stranger's Minivan

NAPA (CBS SF) -- The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who was found dead in the back of a minivan Sunday evening as 55-year-old Michael Nelson of Napa.

Sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said Nelson had been dead for at least two days before the van owner found him unresponsive in the vehicle in the 2000 block of Wilkins Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, Blower said.

Nelson lived in an apartment on Wilkins Avenue, Blower said.

Napa police Lt. Debbie Peecook said there were no apparent signs of foul play and that the van owner did not know Nelson.

Anyone with information is asked to call Napa police at (707) 253-4256.
