Atmospheric river storm: Check the current PG&E power outages

SAN FRANCISCO -- As another round of rain rolled into Northern California, Pacific Gas and Electric was providing updates on the number of power outages across the region.

To cope with widespread damage to its power grid, more than 5,000 PG&E workers were responding to storm-related issues, including crews brought in from Southern California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, Wisconsin and Canada. 

"This is the largest response effort PG&E has ever assembled for a winter storm event," PG&E COO and Executive Vice President of Operations Adam Wright said. 

The company has also set up base camps in the North Coast region and Santa Cruz County and pre-positioned crews and repair and replacement equipment in areas expected to experience the brunt of the storms. 

It is also providing power via portable electric generators to roughly 6,000 customers in Humboldt and Mendocino counties, Wright said. 

And while crews are working to repair lines and restore power, the next round of inclement weather, which could last well into next week, is expected to result in more outages.

PG&E reminded customers they can sign up for outage notifications by text, email, or phone. PG&E will let customers know the cause of an outage, when crews are on their way, the estimated restoration time and when power has been restored.
