Arson Suspected In Fire That Burned 10 Vehicles At Santa Rosa Auto Wrecker
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- Fire officials believe a fire that burned at least 10 vehicles at a Santa Rosa auto storage yard late Saturday night may have been intentionally set, according to the Santa Rosa Fire Department.
At 10:59 p.m., an employee at Acme Foreign Auto Wreckers reported a fire burning in the main storage yard of the business, located at 305 Sebastopol Road, according to fire officials.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw 10 vehicles slated for demolition on fire. The vehicles were stacked on top of each other, making access to the vehicles stored on top difficult, fire officials said.
Firefighters were ultimately able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes, preventing the blaze from spreading to other vehicles on the property.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire, fire officials said.
The employee who initially called to report the blaze said she saw burning road flares in the area before the fire began.
Although the business is protected by a fence, trespassing on the property is a frequent problem, according to fire officials.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the fire department at (707) 543-3500.
