Antioch Pair Arrested In Suspected Identity Theft Ring
ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A man and a youth were arrested Wednesday in Antioch on suspicion of being involved in a large identity theft ring, according to police in a report to the city manager.
Officers were dispatched at 8:23 a.m. to 510 W. 10th St. because a neighbor reported someone from that building was stealing water.
Police found that the building was vacant and that the man and juvenile were squatting there.
Police identified the man as 25-year-old Jesse Perry and the youth as a 17-year-old boy.
When police identified Perry they discovered he had three warrants out for his arrest. The youth gave police a phony name but officers were able to identify him through fingerprints, according to police.
He had one warrant out for his arrest, police said.
Inside the building, officers allege they found more than 70 debit/credit cards, multiple stolen checks, driver's licenses, laptops, cellphones, tablets and a credit card scanner.
Officers also found a filing cabinet stolen from a Brentwood dentist's office, police said.
Officers arrested both suspects on the warrants and multiple fraud offenses. Perry was taken to the county jail and the youth to juvenile hall.
