An eyewitness told KPIX 5 that she was walking her dog at the time and heard the crash happen.

"I hear a car driving super fast, which is normal, and out of nowhere then I hear just a big old crash and popping.. and I walked over to James Donlon, this street, and just saw a car up in flames," the woman said.

Police believe high-speed played a role in the crash. Speeding and running red lights have been a big problem in the area according to police and neighbors.

The crash prompted the closure of James Donlon Boulevard for several hours as authorities investigated. Police said the eastbound direction of James Donlon reopened at 3 p.m., while the westbound direction remained closed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact police dispatch at 925-778-2441.
