Driver Dies, 4 Passengers Hurt In Antioch Solo-Vehicle Crash

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Police in Antioch are investigating a crash that killed one person and injured four others early Saturday.

Officers with the Antioch police department responded at 12:47 a.m. to a vehicle collision on Hillcrest Avenue south of Wildflower Drive.

Officers located a vehicle in the road that had crashed into a tree in the center median, police said.

The driver of the vehicle suffered major injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other passengers were severely injured in the crash and were transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to police.

The passengers suffered injuries that were not life threatening and were listed in stable condition Saturday morning, police said.

Police are investigating if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and police are withholding the names of the victims pending notification of their families.
