Alameda Police Tackle Renters' Advocate At City Council Meeting
ALAMEDA (CBS SF) – Things got heated at a meeting of the Alameda City Council Wednesday night, as police tackled a member of the Alameda Renters' Coalition and put at least two people in handcuffs.
According to KCBS Radio reporter Chris Filippi, it started after coalition members tried to storm the crowded council chambers to talk about the city's housing crisis.
Filippi snapped this picture after the confrontation.
The coalition was upset that landlords got there early and took up all the seats in chambers.
Members of the coalition support a measure to temporarily stop evictions and rent increases.
As of early Thursday morning, the meeting is ongoing.
