Aerial Video Captures Sharks Swimming Near Surfers In Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- A Santa Cruz-based charter aviation company posted video shot Monday that showed a number of sharks in the water off at beaches in Santa Cruz and Capitola, including a shark in the area of a couple of surfers.
Specialized Helicopters, a company that charters chopper tours in Santa Cruz and Monterey, posted a link to the video on their Facebook page Monday afternoon.
The 45-second video clip shows about 20 seconds of a larger shark swimming beneath the surface of the waves before pulling back to reveal the sea predator was only a few hundred feet off of shore.

The next two brief clips show another smaller shark, but one of them is visible in the water not far away from a pair of surfers waiting on their boards for waves.
In the comments on their Facebook post, Specialized Helicopters noted that sizable sharks will likely be visible in these waters on most days between now and November.
The administrator also noted that when chopper pilots spot sharks behaving aggressively in the area of surfers or swimmers, they notify the lifeguards on duty in the area of the activity.
