Fire Burning In Abandoned Building On Mare Island Under Control
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters in Vallejo controlled a structure fire on Mare Island Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
The fire was reported at an abandoned commissary grocery store and night club near Azuar Drive and G Street, firefighters said at about 8:45 a.m. A large homeless encampment is on the island.
Firefighters said the fire, which was not connected to Sunday's earthquake, was under control as of about 9:30 a.m.
Water leaks from quake lead them to call for repairs to lines but did not hinder firefighting efforts.
