70-Year Sentence For Menlo Park Sex Tourist On 35th Trip To Cambodia

MENLO PARK (AP) -- Authorities say a Menlo Park man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for traveling to Cambodia to have sex with young girls.

The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles said in a statement Monday that four girls who ranged from ages 8 to 11 when they were victimized testified at the six-week trial of Ronald Boyajian. One of them testified the 55-year-old had treated her like she wasn't human.

Officials say Boyajian paid pimps and impoverished relatives for access to the girls.

They say he was on his 35^th trip to Cambodia in nine years when he was arrested in 2009. He had resumed the trips shortly after completing his parole on previous convictions for sex with a minor in 1995.
