6.7 Quake Hits Alaska, No Tsunami
ALEUTIAN ISLANDS (CBS SF) -- A magnitude 6.7 quake struck the southern coast of Alaska just 9 seconds after midnight Pacific Time Friday, about 400 miles southwest of Anchorage.
The initial power was reported as a 7.0 before the United States Geological Survey downgraded the size of the quake to 6.7.

The quake was reported by people as far as 450 miles away.
It did not generate a tsunami.
