3D Printing Company With SF Branch Creates Prosthetic Legs For Happiest Dog Ever

They say every dog has its day, and Derby just got a whole lifetime of them.

Born with underdeveloped front legs, Derby's future did not look bright. His original owners abandoned him, and he ended up at a shelter in New Hampshire.

Sherry Portanova soon saved him, but just adopting him wasn't enough. She wanted to help give him a normal life—where he could run and play with the other dogs.

That's when 3D Systems got involved. The company (with a branch in San Francisco) began a special project for Derby, headed by Director Tara Anderson.

After several design sessions, 3D created custom-made "oval-tread" limbs for Derby: extensions perfect for allowing the dog to run, just like other happy pups.

Watch the video and try not to get teary.
