3-Year-Old Girl In Pinole Suffers Facial Injuries From Dog Attack

PINOLE (CBS SF) -- A 3-year-old girl suffered injuries when a bulldog attacked her Friday morning in a Pinole home, according to Contra Costa County Animal Services.

The county animal agency received a call around 10:45 a.m. regarding a dog attack at a residence in the 800 block of Jones Avenue, spokesman Steve Burdo said.

It was determined that the dog was left alone in a room with the child. Burdo said why the attack occurred is still being investigated.

The girl suffered two inch-long lacerations to her face and was taken to Children's Hospital Oakland, Burdo said.

The dog, a 40- or 50-pound American Bulldog, was impounded at Animal Services' Martinez facility, Burdo said.

Burdo said the bulldog's owner lives in the Sacramento area and had left the dog with his brother in Pinole.

The incident is under investigation.
