San Jose Construction Crew Hits Gas Line; Leak Forces Businesses To Evacuate
SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- A dozen businesses in San Jose were evacuated Tuesday afternoon because of a gas leak caused when a construction crew hit a high-pressure gas line, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
San Jose fire officials said the leak was reported around 3:00 p.m. at a strip mall on the 2100 block of Tully Road between Quimby and Capitol Expressway.
At first people were told to shelter in place, but fire officials decided to evacuate the businesses on Tully Road since they weren't sure how long it would take to cap the leak.
Firefighters and PG&E crews responded to the scene and no injuries have been reported.
