2nd Dangerous Bear In A Week Euthanized At Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. (CBS/AP) -- For the second time in a week, Nevada wildlife officials say they've been forced to euthanize a dangerous bear at Lake Tahoe.

Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy says the 18-month-old female was trapped late Thursday or early Friday in the Kingsbury area above Stateline on the lake's south shore.

Healy says the bear matched the description of one that recently entered two different houses in search of food. He says the repeat offender first was captured in the same area as a cub a year ago and was considered a threat to public safety.

It's the fifth bear NDOW has had to kill this year in the Tahoe area.

A 9-year-year old male bear was captured and euthanized Tuesday on the lake's north shore in Incline Village.
