2 Toddlers Injured When Tow Truck Collides With VTA Bus In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A tow truck with two young children inside ran into the back of a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus in San Jose Friday morning, according to a VTA spokeswoman.

KCBS reported the 2-year-old and 3-year-old children were not in car seats and suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to a hospital.

Police responded to the collision near the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Cottle Road at 7:55 a.m., police Officer Albert Morales said.

The tow truck and bus were both found damaged in the middle of the roadway, Morales said.

"A VTA bus was stopped at the southbound Santa Teresa coach stop when a tow truck ran into the back of it just before 8 a.m. Both vehicles were towed and streets were back open by 10 a.m.," said VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress.

Police were investigating. No word yet on what caused the crash.
