2 Injured In Separate Early-Morning Crashes On I-80 Near Hercules
RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- At least one person was airlifted to a hospital after two crashes early Sunday morning, one involving a vehicle and Contra Costa County fire truck, on Interstate Highway 80 near Hercules, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to the first crash in which a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder overturned on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 just east of Willow Avenue around 1:10 a.m., CHP Officer Ron Simmons said.
While CHP officers and fire crews were responding to the first crash, a 2013 Ford Taurus crashed into a Contra Costa County fire truck at about 1:55 a.m., according to Simmons.
The drivers of the Nissan and Ford both suffered minor injuries and one of them was airlifted to a hospital, he said.
No one else was inside either car, Simmons said.
No other injuries were reported.
A Sig-alert was issued at 2:01 a.m. and was canceled shortly before 3 a.m., CHP officials said.
