2 Hospitalized After Vehicle Hits Traffic Light Pole, Then Pedestrian Near Market & 7th In SF

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ Two people were hospitalized after a driver struck a traffic signal pole and then a pedestrian in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 2:30pm on McAllister Street between Leavenworth Street and Charles J. Brenham Place.

San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said the driver of the vehicle struck a traffic signal and then a pedestrian.

Initial reports suggested the pedestrian was a bicyclist.

Talmadge said two people were transported to the hospital, one suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

Henry Ntuyen, a baker at California Bakery, which is located at that intersection, said he was inside working when he heard a loud noise come from the street.

He looked outside and saw a vehicle had come to a stop on the sidewalk across the street from the bakery, but wasn't sure how many people were injured.

Market Street was shutdown to traffic around 7th Street and McAllister and Leavenworth for over an hour.
