2 Decomposing Bodies Found In Napa Apartment

NAPA (CBS SF) -- Napa police Tuesday identified two people who were found dead in an apartment Monday afternoon.

Sandra Peterson, 55, and Gene Meixel, 66, were found in the living room of an upstairs apartment in the Glen View Apartments at 601 River Glen Drive during a welfare check around 2:35 p.m., police Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

Peterson was found fully clothed in a chair and appeared to have been dead for several weeks, Peecook said.

Meixel was found naked lying on the floor and appeared to have died about a week ago, Peecook said. Neither a weapon nor a suicide note was found at the scene, she said.

The person who called police said the two had not been seen for at least a week. Both were normally seen on a regular basis, but were known to be recluses to most people living in the apartment complex, Peecook said.

Police received no response when they phoned the apartment and knocked on the door, but they could see a large amount of flies in the front window with the window coverings closed, Peecook said.

Autopsies on the couple are scheduled for later this week, she said.

A winemaker and investor were found dead Monday in an apparent murder-suicide.
