4 family members found dead inside Milpitas home

Watch: Milpitas police press conference on family found dead in apartment

Four family members, two adults and two children, were found dead inside an apartment in Milpitas Tuesday in an incident that police said was "isolated."

Police said officers were dispatched just before 9 p.m. to the Turing Apartments at 1355 McCandless Drive for a welfare check. Officers entered the apartment and found a woman, a man, and two pre-teen children "with obvious signs of death."

Millbrae Police Lt. Tyler Jamison said at a Wednesday afternoon press conference that the welfare check on the family was conducted after other family members reported they had not spoken with their loved ones for several days.

"We don't know specifically the names of the individuals or their relationships but detectives are still trying to piece that information together," said Jamison.

All four were pronounced dead at the scene, Jamison said. He did not elaborate on the condition of the bodies and said the cause of death and the identities would be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.

Earlier Wednesday, a police press release stated that based on all available information, it appeared to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public.

Jamison said the department offered condolences to the family of the deceased individuals and said it would provide support for the officers who responded to the scene.

"It's a very difficult incident for anyone, I mean, especially the family, like we mentioned our deepest condolences to the family. Officers are exposed to these tragic incidents on a daily basis and we just want to make sure they're provided with the necessary resources that they need to navigate through those challenges," said Jamison.

Jamison said there was no record of any previous police calls to the address.

The investigation was ongoing and police said the department would share pertinent information as the investigation progresses and it is appropriate to do so.
