Double Quakes: 2.8 Magnitude Shakes North Bay East Of Santa Rosa While 3.0 Shakes The Geysers
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A small 2.8 magnitude quake shook the North Bay communities of Santa Rosa and Napa at around 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey seismographs.
A 3.0 magnitude quake 100 miles north of this, in a very seismically active area known as The Geysers struck nearly simultaneously.
No injuries or damage were reported from either quake, but with earthquakes of this size, homes and businesses directly above the epicenter could have been subjected to some subtle movement.
The 2.8 quake was centered in a relatively unpopulated mountainous region between the two cities.
Later Tuesday evening, a third quake measuring 3.0 struck Salinas.
