17 United Airlines Flights Delayed At SFO; Bomb Threat Adds To Confusion
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)-- It was a rough Tuesday morning if you had a flight on United Airlines out of San Francisco International Airport. Sometime after 6 a.m., a spokesman for United Airlines said the airline was experiencing a "dispatching" problem.
He would not say whether it was a software or hardware issue, but planes weren't getting the information they needed to take off.
As a result, the planes and passengers were put on hold. The ground stop was lifted around 6:40 a.m.
It turns out 17 flights out of SFO were delayed, but all have since left the airport.
Adding to the confusion was a report of a phoned-in bomb threat to five flights, including a United one from SFO to Chicago.
According to NBC News, four of the five flights named arrived safely.
A Korean Air jet from Seoul to SF was still in the air and scheduled to land Tuesday afternoon. The call was considered a hoax.
