$10,000 Reward Offered In Brutal Assault Of Elderly Woman In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police officers with the police officers association are offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who assaulted an 88-year-old woman in the city on Tuesday.

At a press conference outside Yik Oi Huang's home in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood, San Francisco Police Officers Association President Tony Montoya urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time of Tuesday morning's assault to come forward.

"We are asking anyone in the public, the morning of the incident, if you remember hearing anything, or seeing anything, it may not seem important to you, we do ask you to call the anonymous tipline, that phone number is 415-575-4444," said Montoya. "We really need to take this dangerous individual off the streets."

Officer Grace Gatpandan said witnesses located the victim with multiple traumatic injuries and described the assault as an elder abuse case.

The violence has apparently prompted Supervisor Shamann Walton to demand a police substation.

Montoya said setting up such a substation would involve many issues, including real estate, that would take time to sort out, but said the police department is equipped to provide an immediate presence using its two mobile command posts.

"[The command posts] are readily available right now as we speak," said Montoya. "So at the direction of the chief or any the other higher up in city government, they can order one of these vehicles brought out her immediately, and they can staff that vehicle 24/7."
