Forward progress of Sicard Fire near Smartsville stopped

Vegetation fire burning off Hwy. 20 in Yuba County; evacuations ordered

YUBA COUNTY -  Forward progress of the Sicard Fire in Yuba County has been stopped. 

According to Cal Fire, forward progress was stopped just after 4 p.m. The latest update from officials stated the fire had grown to 13 acres and is now 100% contained.

The area of the fire is about 18 miles northeast of Yuba City near the town of Smartsville.

The Yuba County Office of Emergency Services says that the fire was threatening structures. As a result, mandatory evacuations were put in effect along Gary Way, Lanza Lane, and Frontier Trail.

An evacuation center was set up at 5396 Marysville Road in Browns Valley. 

There were no reports of injuries.

As of Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m., the Yuba County Sheriff's Department announced that all evacuations have been lifted and residents can now return to their homes.
