Would-Be Robber Pepper-Sprays Krispy Kreme Employee
RIVERBANK, Calif. (CBS13) - Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's catch a man who tried to rob a Krispy Kreme restaurant in Riverbank.
Authorities released surveillance video of the incident on Wednesday.
At around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the man entered the restaurant and ordered a doughnut. And while the employee was getting the doughnut, the man pulled a black handgun from his bag, pointed it at the employee and demanded cash, according to a sheriff's department statement.
When the employee told the man he didn't have any cash, the man reached into his bag, pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed the employee. The man then ran off.
Detectives are asking for the public's help to locate the suspect who is described as a white male adult with black bushy hair. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He was wearing a white t-shirt and cargo-style pants.
