Woodland police arrest suspect after shooting inside home, standoff
WOODLAND – An hours-long standoff at a home in Woodland ended peacefully with a shooting now suspect in custody, authorities say.
Woodland police say, just after 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers and Yolo County sheriff's deputies responded to a home near Clover and 5th streets to investigate a reported shooting. Investigators believe a resident of the home, 33-year-old Bremmer Lopez-Sanchez, allegedly shot at another resident.
No one was hurt in the shooting, police say, but Lopez-Sanchez was still believed to be in the home with the weapon.
Officers set up a perimeter and a SWAT team was called to the scene, along with a K9 and drone. Announcements started and Lopez-Sanchez was told to surrender.
After a few hours, police say Lopez-Sanchez was taken into custody peacefully.
A search of the home soon uncovered a semi-automatic handgun and ammunition, police say.
Lopez-Sanchez has been booked into Yolo County Jail and is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon along with other weapons charges.
